AlertMe Live Privacy Policy

Effective Date: [Insert date]

Last Updated: [Insert date]

This Privacy Policy explains how AlertMe Live collects, uses, discloses, stores, and deletes information when you use theAlertMe Live website, mobile apps, and related services.

1. Our Privacy Approach

AlertMe Live is designed to use limited data for a narrow purpose: enabling users to notify trusted contacts during a timer or active alert.

  • no audio recording;
  • no video streaming;
  • no tracking outside active alerts;
  • minimal data collection; and
  • a 15-day scrub of stored alert coordinates after a session ends.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect and process the following categories of information:

A. Account Information

Information you provide when you create or manage an account, such as:

  • name or display name;
  • email address;
  • phone number, if collected;
  • language or region preferences;
  • account settings and notification preferences.

B. Trusted Contact Information

Information you provide about the contacts you choose to notify, such as:

  • contact name;
  • phone number;
  • email address;
  • preferred or confirmed notification channels;
  • relationship or notes, if the product allows them.

C. Alert and Timer Information

Information generated when you use the Service, such as:

  • timer start, cancel, expiration, and stop events;
  • alert activation, updates, and stop events;
  • timestamps;
  • delivery status events;
  • message-channel attempts and outcomes;
  • event and session metadata needed to operate the Service.

D. Location Information

When a timer or active alert is running, the Service processes live location information so trusted contacts can receive location-aware updates and map links. Background location is collected only while a timer or alert is active, and location coordinates associated with alert sessions are scrubbed 15 days after session completion.

E. Device, App, and Log Information

We may collect limited technical and operational information such as:

  • device and app identifiers;
  • operating system and app version;
  • IP address;
  • browser or device type;
  • authentication and session events;
  • security, abuse-prevention, and diagnostic logs;
  • crash and performance data.

F. Communications

If you contact us, join a waitlist, request support, or send a legal/privacy request, we may collect the information you include in those communications.

3. Information We Do Not Intend to Collect as Core Product Inputs

AlertMe Livedoes not collect or store audio or video content as part of the product's core operation.

4. Authentication and Social Sign-On

AlertMe Live supports password-based authentication and available social sign-on methods, including Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In in supported flows.

If you choose social sign-on, we process identity information provided by that provider to authenticate your account. Your use of those sign-in providers is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

5. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • create and maintain accounts;
  • authenticate users and secure the Service;
  • allow users to manage trusted contacts;
  • run timers and alerts;
  • send notifications through supported channels;
  • generate alert-status pages, links, and map views;
  • provide nearby public-resource context where supported;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and unauthorized access;
  • maintain logs, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell personal data.

6. How Alert Notifications Work

When a user starts a timer or activates a live alert, AlertMe Livemay disclose information selected or generated in connection with that alert to the user's trusted contacts, including:

  • the fact that an alert or timer event occurred;
  • the user's identity or account name;
  • live or recent location information during the alert;
  • map links;
  • update cadence and stop-status notifications;
  • nearby context resources such as law-enforcement offices, hospitals, legal aid, or support links where supported.

This sharing occurs because the user directed the Service to notify those contacts.

7. How We Share Information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

A. With Trusted Contacts

We share information that the user instructs us to send to the trusted contacts the user designates.

B. With Service Providers and Infrastructure Vendors

We share necessary data with service providers that help us operate the Service, such as:

  • hosting and infrastructure providers;
  • messaging and email delivery providers;
  • telephony and SMS providers;
  • messaging-channel providers, including WhatsApp where enabled;
  • mapping and location providers;
  • security, monitoring, and logging providers;
  • customer support tools, if used.

C. For Legal Compliance and Protection

We may preserve, use, or disclose information when we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or enforce our Terms and policies.

D. Business Transfers

If AlertMe Live is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

8. Data Retention

The Service applies the following retention model:

  • alert sessions may remain in active or stopped state for 15 days;
  • a daily cleanup job zeros out location coordinates in alert event and session records once session end time is older than 15 days;
  • session, event, and delivery records may remain after coordinate scrubbing for historical analytics, operational integrity, security, and compliance;
  • aggregate summaries may be retained for up to 12 months for system planning.

We may retain some information longer where necessary for legal compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security review, enforcing agreements, and maintaining limited audit trails.

9. Account Deletion

If you delete your account, we process deletion in accordance with our deletion workflows. Profile data and trusted-contact data are removed, and authentication tokens are revoked.

Some residual information may remain temporarily in logs, backups, or preservation copies for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or disaster-recovery purposes, but not longer than permitted by applicable law or operational necessity.

10. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and operational safeguards intended to protect the Service and the information processed through it.

We also apply encryption controls at rest for trusted-contact channel data and secure credential handling for account authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Public-Data Resource Information

AlertMe Livemay use public and third-party datasets to match a user's location to nearby law-enforcement offices, hospitals, legal-aid organizations, and support resources. These resources are informational only.

Public datasets may be out of date, incomplete, geographically imperfect, or operationally inaccurate. Users should not rely on these data for immediate life-safety decisions.

12. Children

AlertMe Live is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without legally sufficient authorization where required. If you believe a child has provided information in violation of applicable law, contact us and we will review and take appropriate action.

For residents of states with applicable privacy laws, this section supplements the rest of this Policy. Depending on your state, you may have the rights described above. We do not sell personal data.
